Dying Rose

 Dying Rose

Purple velvety petals

laid on the ground

fallen from the rose

tossed down without a sound

for once there was beauty

shining from this flower

but as time`s gone by

this rose has lost its power

a distant waft of scent

drifts across this place

where once we saw beauty

oh, so full of grace

so sad, this dying roseĀ

as the petals fall away

scattered across the floor

not to see another day
