Emptiness

Emptiness

Horror was mortified to find
Silence had stunned their subject into a muted husk
Whilst Silence was ashamed to be seen at all
Hope tried to prevail
To shed some light towards the wreckage dredged, and left for dead
And although Death dismissed this waning life
Time seemed to long for nothing,
but to cease existence
Yet still the presence of the Now persisted
Even though None knew how to BE Anymore

My Dear Gwendoline,

A brilliant esoteric poem written in centuries old script, leaving the reader to conjecture, my take it describing a violent shipwreck where all perish.

Love,

Although strictly speaking not a definition of emptiness, I know however, that was never your objective ... Had it been, I am sure you would have achieved it ...
Nevertheless, in its entirety, this is something so much better than any mere definition ..
For these are your words, each strung and collectively, wrapped as they are within a wondrous poem ..
and whilst seemingly profound and recherché even .. it is here upon this page whereupon an answer most surely but covertly lays .................... x

Hi Neville sorry for the abstract nature of this piece. I probably went too far down the rabbit hole with this one. But it is talking about a person who is alive but not really existing. They feel devoid of emotions. To the point that death doesn’t scare them. They know they should feel things but nothing rises to the surface. So they feel like a husk just breathing in life but devoid of anything. It’s that kind of emptiness I was pressing on the reader. I did it from the perceptive of the emotions themselves, attempting to be recognised. The only one having any effect is silence, who is the companion to emptiness. When in this state of mind we fight in ourselves to feel, but it is as if our emotions have just forgotten how to be, how to function and be recognised. Sorry again for the confusion
Thanks for commenting and the like my friend. Always a pleasure to have you visit and leave your words
