Evil Pride Lives the Lie

Evil Pride Lives the Lie

I knew a man once.  He was really quite self-satisfied.
In every aspect of his life, he pleased only 'himself'
Oh yes and was quite pleased with himself.
Even if every "when, where, how, or why?",
without reason, was no more than a lie.

Entranced by his own reflection, he lived behind a veil of secrecy.
Fearful to unveil himself to anyone, much less the man in the mirror he'd be forced to see.
Who was the man behind the mask?
He dared not ask!  You dare not ask!
For to discern the real image of himself,
he'd only find his first victim of his 'great big lie.'
For the man he once was, is now gone,
too soon replaced by this soulless serpent.

He was a master of disguise, think you see him but you don't.
He was clothed in deception; predictably void of self-examination;
deflecting any and all recrimination; prideful swells - full of his own perfection;
with a self-serving, righteous indignation.
Shouting  "I feel Justified - I am Justified"!

Subtlely, like a 'serpent' living in a deep dark place, he moved from prey to prey.
His destructiveness was remarkably consistent,
once he 'crossed over that dark destructive line'.
And there was no limit to the lines he'd cross, none confined,
once possessed and obsessed with an evil intent.

I thought I knew this man once but I did not.
All that was left was a stench of a justifiable arrogance;
willing to betray themselves, and all others.
Sacrificing all in his path to preserve the self image of perfection.

There in lies the sickness in the 'people of the lie'.
They live their life behind a mask, truth be told,
hiding from everyone including themselves; alone in the darkness of their soul.
