Fallen Ground

Fallen Ground

Golden umber, the colors of the autumn leaves, berries fall, and we pick them up

The fruits of the earth, pears, apples, and nuts, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts

The corn has been picked, now we grind it into meal flour, and make breads

We shall feast, on wild game, the deer, pheasant, turkey, and wild hog

A time to give thanks, and a time to recognize peace, and equality

Fallen ground, has drug us down to the death of our ancestors, who we shall never forget

Where the ground has caved in, cracked and broken away, so has our hearts, lost faith

Now is the time for healing, for fading away, as the natives call we move on to solid ground

As the leaves fall, and the trees become bare, we look forward to the spring where life returns
