Poem -

Family

Fighting for years then suddenly I’m beat,
I can’t fight for you any longer,
Room for two but always one empty seat,
Feelings of irrelevance building stronger,
Warm water filling up; close to overflow,
Did I push you away to see you pull back?
The pain that’s been caused; no one will ever know,
Dreaming that one day it will all just be black,
Family you say? Does it even mean a thing?
Is it anything more than words on a page?
Some meaningless words, a meaningless ring,
Pathetic enough to act on the rage,
The old scars that appear, they were made by me,
For the best tried to die at their own hand you see.
