FIREHYDRANT

I'm more than a piece of well built iron
Still and cold
I'm the strong and silent type
With a heart of pure gold
With a sense of noteworthy duty
I stand ready at my post
I'm here to put the fires out
And think of safety, foremost
And though they've painted me
To look like a silly clown
I stand here ready
To save our great town
But being a FIREHYDRANT
It's not always so great
There's not much to do
While you stand there and wait
The dogs, they wag their tails
And spray right in my face
They tease and they taunt me
In my dreadful disgrace
But it's music to my ears
And my heart, it skips a beat
When I hear the echo
Of the firemen's feet
