Flood

The Sky above had dealt a blow,
on a sunburnt country it put on a show.
As the rain came down it created a merge,
these floods of a lifetime took on more than surge.
A swallowing torrent was put on display
as we watched water rise, on a cruel Autumn day
So much was lost as it sunk into deep,
while man, women and child had it lap at their feet.
I wished I could turn back the color of brown,
as it buried 2 states drowning town after town.
It was a journey of torment, a lingering hell,
we prayed that the sun would come out of its shell.
The weather caused a shipwreck that created a sea,
as the water kept climbing up the houses and trees.
As the spirit of our country tried to find solid ground,
those heroes on boats kept on searching around.
They took on the scene of intense casualty,
the look of a war zone, an emotional agony.
The rains had poured into chapters of time,
where history will continue to tell all of its crime.
Through the heartbreak and tears where the wild weather roamed.
our hope is that lifeline where Australian's call home.
