Poem -

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Sleep won’t keep me from the dark
Dreams are deemed to shed -
what little light remains inside my broken heart

To let the shadows consume its sullen glow
As I decide to finally let go

Fractured pieces
Entombed within the past

I lay to rest
This heavy chest
of broken dreams
I’ve tried to mask

Allowing my thoughts to finally find peace
I step forward on my new found feet

Released -
I cease to dwell
Giving thanks for all I’ve learnt -
From getting burnt

For the first time my heart begins to swell
As I watch white tulips grow
Where once I fell

So lovely, beautiful and sad.

Fractured pieces
Entombed within the past

I lay to rest
This heavy chest
of broken dreams
I've tried to mask

That really stands out for me. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece, Gwendoline.

Many thanks BM For reading and the vote too. I love the message behind flowers. How all have a meaning and were once used to give a message to someone. White tulips mean forgiveness, purity and a clean slate.

really pleased you liked it ?

Forgiveness does wonder. Like this:

To let the shadows consume its sullen glow
As I decide to finally let go

Gwen an ethereal quality to your poem which is haunting and beautiful .
A heavily  burdened soul reborn and so a Phoenix rises and so subtle to use white tulips a flower like the lily, a flower of purity, to use as a poetic metaphor against your enthralling and so beautifully beguiling backdrop.
Your clean slate, rebirth message is simply heaven to read and floating on air.
Thanks Gwen and full honours bestowed and most respectfully so.

Many thanks Shaun :) I do love the meaning behind flowers. They use to use them as messages many many moons ago. So lovely to read your thoughts on this piece. Thank you my friend for giving my poetry your time, and for sharing your wonderful wisdom
