Fragile Mind
Dedicated to my Dad and to highlight mental health

What thoughts reside behind those eyes?
A listless gaze to a fragile mind
Youāll speak of memories, soĀ unkindĀ
And struggle to find peace insideĀ
Blind to the lightsĀ
Which shine aheadĀ
Consumed by painsĀ
An endless dreadĀ
Your secrets walk beside the deadĀ
Iāll never take that path you treadĀ
For you instilled Iād only seeĀ
The light you wished you got to beĀ
The dark you fearedĀ
Cradled self doubtĀ
Unworthy thoughtsĀ
A muted shoutĀ
If I could bend all time and spaceĀ
Iād look into that infant faceĀ
To seek the hidden tears which traceĀ
The grim truth of lifeās disgraceĀ
Then I would help release what bindsĀ
Those eyes which rear a fragile mindĀ
Gently coax your light to bloomĀ
Then Iād not lose you far too soonĀ
In Memory of my loving father who should of had a Birthday today. Nothing can harm you anymore. Your beautiful mind is free to beĀ
The photo is of my FatherĀ

Hello Tony,Ā
I cannot thank you enough for your kindness towards this special piece. He was my inspiration in life. I do wish I had that Tardis. Your feedback is so warmly received. I am told by those who knew him, that I am just like him. But unlike him, my childhood was full of loveĀ
Many many thanks for leaving such attentive words on this poem. Cheered me up :) x
Gwen a great piece that highlights and draws due credited attention to that unforgiving, unsatisifed black dog of human illnesses.
Your father would be proud of you no doubt and I guess many more who go through its trials and testing tribulations, again in addressing its pain and heartache for all who endure it.
And Gwen you write it so well and from one's honest heart, so they live on and never fade from our memories. Eternal.ā¤ļø

So so haunting and heartbreakingĀ Gwen... to see the innocent photo and try to understand what future experiences might shape this child and his life path. Oh...this is just a beautiful.and moving write...the love and hurt jump out at the reader. It is so skillfully written my friend, a wonderful tribute to your dad and a much needed voice highlighting the suffering and also domino effect of mental health. I'm.sorry I missed it...been off a few days...stunning love...so so many hugs to you ššš
Hello lovely š I almost sent you a pm yesterday then thought you might just be needing a moment ā¤ļø
Whenever I look at that photo, I just feel such sadness from him. Ā I liked your words āthe domino effectā that is exactly what I was trying to get across in this piece. To highlight how fragile our childrenās minds are. How we as adults have a responsibility to Ā nurture those little minds with love and care. Not fear and violence, which sadly is what he had. I wish I had a time machine,Ā because I believe if I could save the child, I could save the manĀ
love and hugs ššš
Wow Gwen., This is extremely moving. Emotions filled my eyes and self throughout.Ā
I can't recall feeling someone else express themselves quite like this.Ā
Your Dad will be beyond proud of his little girl.Ā
love and tears GwenĀ
DanĀ
Awe thank you my friend. This was a special write indeed. Your words are truly touching. Sorry for the delay replying. My son has had a wobbly tooth these last few days and it finally fell out yesterday evening :)Ā
WoW ! Well done on a tender beautiful write Gwen and I should imagine dad would be so proud of you , managing to write awesome work such as this . You rhyme beautifully and handle a harrowing affliction with love and tenderness, very well done again and I shall have to read more of your work ! Chris š
Thanks ever so much for your kind words on this piece Chris. A very special write this was for me. Thank you for leaving your wonderful thoughts with my poemĀ
Gwen :)Ā
Gwen,
I cannot add anything more meaningful than what has already been said/writ by so many of my reviewing predecessors ..
Except for maybe that this .. is perhapsĀ more ragged and real (and I sincerely mean that as a compliment of the highest order) than so many posts I have previously encountered that skim touch upon the subject and subjects you so skillfullyĀ mention, refer to and otherwise highlight ..
Yes indeed,Ā a ragged & real, compelling & poignant poem .. sadly enjoyed ..
NevilleĀ
Neville, I can't thank you enough for looking back and reading an older post. Especially as this one is close to my heart. I do think this subject matter is still not talked enough. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. I am forever grateful my friendĀ
Gwen xĀ
No worries or problem, my pleasure entirely and I quite agree with you .. the stigma & taboos that abound can only be eroded and worn down if more and more folk chip away at them .............. Neville :) x
