free radicals

free radicals

This world s so full of beauty
If you open your eyes too see
it surrounds every single one of us
Including you and me

Lurking in the shadows though
Disturbed minds plot and plan
To take it all away from us
in the most horrific way they can

Like sheep to the slaughter
Some fall at their feet
But each action builds up our determination
Never give in to terror
Or give any sign of defeat

That’s  the price of democracy and freedom
Allowing the people their own free will
How do we defend against radicalised  lost souls,
who are mentally unstable or ill

Should the perpetrators be allowed to live
When they have taken so many lives
Leaving behind broken families
Tormented children,husbands and wives

Irrational minds can’t  comprehend a reason
Or see wrong,
In realising the thoughts on their mind
Does that mean we have to be so lenient
When their actions where so abhorrently unkind

Maybe it’s time to re-introduced capital punishment
As fair payment for heinous crime
Some  small recompense for their victims
Left to suffer the resulting anguish and pain all the time

If we don’t dispense fair justice
It will happen from time to time
An eye for an eye it says in the bible,
A punishment that fits the crime
