A Free Spirit

Once enlightened by the moon, the stars, the sky, and the earth below me

I ran free, I lived for my native path, the grass green, the mountains high

I felt the heat of the sun and the rain on my skin, we danced in spirit

We felt the longing for victory, in our hunts, in our tribes, we wanted to rise

Above the earth and look down upon it one day, and know we touched it

We are now a free spirit, our roots will be in the forests, our love will be in the waters

As I now sing the song of glory, as we fought to keep our people together

Not knowing where the next trail would take us, but knowing that we belonged

A free spirit
