Ghost Town
Photograph by Graham Everitt

Excuse the profanityÂ
Where the f**k is humanityÂ
We are just about clinging onto our sanityÂ
Is this way of living our new reality
Rein-acting The Specials
You remember ghost townÂ
All shops boarded upÂ
Nobody aroundÂ
This wouldn’t be funny in the eyes of a clown
Not a smile in sight but plenty of frowns
If this city was a dog, it’d be put downÂ
We have got every desire at the click of a mouse
There’s just no need to leave the houseÂ
Inside we resideÂ
Memories fill our mindÂ
Of when we once looked a market traderÂ
Right in the eyesÂ
You at least got a smileÂ
Once in a whileÂ
Now to speak to a humanÂ
Theres a number to dialÂ
I’ll call 999
There’s a crime been committed
You’ve killed the humanityÂ
This was never permitted
Bring some life to the streetsÂ
Meet and greetÂ
What is the point in these lonely old seats
Ones facing northÂ
The other, eastÂ
No chit chat for meÂ
When I rest my feet
Â

Hell yes Saffon! Type it out!! So much pain in this. The world doesn't feel real anymore, does it? I agree~
Exactly..Nice write x
Hi Saffron, this is so true. We are becoming an isolated society. Hermits that have forgotten how to physically interact. It is sad. Great writing thoughÂ
