God's Kingdom

This life we live,
So much to give.
Yet we have this need,
Which causes so much greed.
Â
Insatiable lust,
No one can trust.
Backstabbing and lying,
And no one is trying.
Â
Selfishness is the new trend,
Is there no end?
Pain and hurt,
They kick you into the dirt.
Â
You turn to drugs and alcohol,
There's no helping anyone at all.
You've completely given in,
Now you've become the sin.
Â
You've forgotten what you came for,
You have been shook to your core.
Addiction has taken place,
There's no way to fix this race.
Â
Then with a triumphant sound,
You step up and stand your ground.
He who sent you is near,
And easily reminds you why you are here?
Â
You dry your running eyes,
And to much of your surprise,
Your strength has returned.
For you have learned,
That the greatest gift from above,
Was the gift of love.
Â
Your job was to share this gift,
To show the world why we really exist?
Then spread it far and wide,
Until we're all filled with love inside.
And for you... God's little Angel,
Life will no longer be painfull.
With your job well done,Â
You may now return to God's Kingdom.

Hi Renee. Humanity is a strange thing. On the one hand it can be warm and loving but on the other it can be devastatingly evil — it's the nature of the beast! Thank goodness for the kind people — the world needs kindness. Your poem shows me that no matter how dark things can get, there IS light to be found. I believe the light can be found in all sorts of places. Some find it through god, some find it in the kind deeds of others, it really can be found anywhere... we just need to stop and let it find us. I love your poem x
Thank you for this comment. It is very inspiring. I came back to read this poem today as I couldn't help but wonder why after 2 years of not writing a poem that I came to write this? This morning I found out my step daughter, the sister to 2 of my daughters, overdosed and passed away. She left behind a young daughter of her own. I can't help but wonder if this is why this popped into my head out of no where??
I am so very sorry for your loss, Renee. What a tragedy! May your step daughter rest in peace. I cannot begin to imagine the pain you are all going through at this moment. Love to you all x
