She Carries the Weight

Her Heart Aches

She Carries the Weight

In the quiet hum of a weary home,
A woman walks in, where shadows roam.
She carries the weight of a world on her back,
With love turned to thorns in each dimly lit crack.

Her hands are calloused from work too long,
While his voice cuts sharply, a cruel, bitter song.
“Worthless,” he hurls, with a sneer and a grim,
As he wallows in silence, in his room, dark and dim.

She wakes with the dawn, with the sun's first soft light,
To a day filled with duties, a relentless fight.
She cleans, cooks, and scrubs after long hours spent,
While he cloisters himself, in silence, content.

The laundry mounts high, like the bills on the floor,
But he turns a blind eye, for him, there’s no chore.
She pays for the groceries, the rent, and the more,
As he slips into shadows, her spirit to bore.

Her heart aches with weariness, deep-rooted despair,
For the dreams that she nurtured lie heavy in air.
He takes and he takes, with a heart made of stone,
Leaving her standing, so battered, alone.

“Why am I here?” she whispers to night,
As the stars gaze down, distant, yet bright.
She longs for the warmth, for a partner to share,
But finds only callousness in the chill of the air.

Yet still, there is strength in her soft, fragile soul,
A flicker of hope that can still make her whole.
She may feel the weight of a harsh, cruel decree,
But in the depths of her heart, there's a yearning to be free.

So she dreams of a dawn where the shadows will clear,
Where laughter replaces the bitterness here.
For the woman who fights, though the battle seems long,
Will one day reclaim her own beautiful song.
