Golgotha

Golgotha

I am the door ~ replacing Hades’ gate
I am the fountain ~ drink from only me
I am the love ~ hell-bent on tribal hate
I am the chain in which you shall be free.

I am the thirst and hunger of the child
I am the splendour of the sun of man
I am the one who stands against the mild
and strides through mountains calling to the damned.

Was it he who ruptured memory’s bole
and charred the words of ages for the cross?
Was it she who ate and found no soul
and clothed her knowledge ~ thinking it a loss?

Upon Golgotha’s hill they still allege:
The wood of the cross ~ The tree of knowledge.
