The Hamster Wheel

~~I collect my thoughts on the 6am alarm
Five more minutes... oh where is the harm
Ā

I plan my day, each chore I scrutinize
I convince it's a joy, oh my...what lies
Ā

I shuffle and freeze till the boiler kicks in
A coffee or two, for a fire within
Ā

I dress in a daze, do I really care
I must think of the bank and all that we share

Ā The cold air attacks, as I walk out the door
Do I have everything I need, I'm never quite sure
Ā

I do not feel lively or ready for this
To give it all up now, a constant wish
Ā

Should I see a weekend still remains
To ease my weekday tedious pains

I see the same people, they all look like me
A hamster wheel really no place to be

I will chance a smile to make it good
Today I'd jump off this wheel if I only could
