To say I love you

It’s hard to say I love you
It’s hard to say goodbye
It’s easy to say I hate you
To deny, deny, deny
It’s not easy showing feeling
Putting our whole heart on the line
Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it
The pain, or gain, denied
 
It’s hard to say I love you
And sure without a doubt                                                                                                                               I say it in quite different ways
Than you have thought about
It may be in lingering look
A gift, a touch, a word
It’s hard to say I love you
Even harder to be heard
 
It’s hard to say goodbye
To wave away a friend
To wish them luck along their way
A home round every bend
Death is the only quite sure parting
A way away from the world
Some choose to leave quite quickly
Others till their old
It’s very hard to say goodbye
Especially now forever
 
It easy to say I hate you
Three words quite simply put
You say them loud
You say them quiet
The impact just as great
You may not think it means too much
To utter these three words
But to me it means a great big lot
One truly should never hate
 
I wish I could say I love you
To be with you everyday
Wishing with every single breath
To be a part of your day
 
I wish you didn’t say goodbye
Didn’t bid me out of your life
Wish I could go back again
To apologise, apologise, apologise
 
For now I’ll say those deep three words
Three words that mean so much
I miss you every single day
I love you so very much
