Heart and Soul

Many moons have passed, the ages of bones, have all turned to ash
Where my heart and soul, found the path, my father taken down, his life
Though I rest in my mind, the day of old, I feel my blood stirring, in each wind that passes
Each song in the mountains, and the fish in the rivers, take me to the next water
Where I will see the sun, I will feel the warmth of the heat, I will hear the rooster crow
And the blood of the wounded, will make figures in the earth, it will fossil, like a stone
It will shadow, each memory, and my love for my people, will enter the spirit of the storm
Each time the lightening strikes, it will be a new colt to life, and the mare horse will scream
To the valleys of prairie grass, of thistles and thorns, the yellow finch will perch on the post
Of the cowboys gate, and we shall give birth to a new dawn, a new soul, a breathing heart
The passion of the native man, will not fall apart, it will ride with the feathers of the eagle
High into the sky, where my love, and my honor, will know the heavens eyes, have been open wide
