Heart of a Woman

a heart of a woman
is fierce, yet delicate
layered with strength
tattooed with scars,
calluses, hurts, pain
and betrayal
each covered
with crimson
lipstick stain
the center is full
of secrets
deeper than the ocean
wants, desires,
longings
each under
the selfless duties
of life
all of which will
surface and cause
a deep ache within
never to be voiced
awaiting the words
the touch
the confirmation
of affection,
appreciation
and adoration
a guarded heart
is encircled
by a wall of cement
not to play hard to get
or even challenge you
she has reasons for those
walls, and is protecting
her true beauty, and
powerful love
she knows her worth, and
will not accept anything less
than deserved
she will be a priority, not an option
to get behind her wall, is
a true honor
one of high worth
she doesn't need you,
she wants you to be there
to earn her love and trust
is to be loved, in a way
in which you have never
experienced before
completely; wholeheartedly
strength of a warrior
immense beauty of a queen
a mind of deep intellect
a soul in which poetry overflows
all in which reflects...
the heart of a woman

so beautiful, rings true as well, great poetry, SoulWhispers; curious why anyone comes on a poetry site and uses a made up name, but you do write well, that is the most important thing in the end, cheers poet.
Thank you for the very kind comments.
Some of us escape and write.
Anonymity is a treasure in such instances
Wonderful...truly.
Particularly intriguing (and telling, perhaps?) is when you talk of her heart as being "tattooed with scars"...for surely a tattoo is, in most instances, a willing affliction??
And yet, to have those same tattoos "...encircled/by a wall of cement"; baffling contradictions sit at the heart of this poem...as they do of a woman.
A joy to have you here...irrespective of nomenclature.
J ;)
I do love your detailed insight and perception. Very much.
My heart appreciates the very warm welcome.
I am quite anxious to dive into the words & art of other poets.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
