Heaven Cries

Heaven Cries

Oh where is my beloved?
He went for a walk one day
Never for one moment
Did I think that he would stay.
So I knelt down in the garden
Lowered heaven just to find him,
I searched high and I searched low
Walked through fire
And through snow.
He wandered off with my heart
And he left me with a hole.
Once I was pure white
Now I've become as black as coal.
Oh where is my beloved?
Stole the fire from my heart
And shared it with a broken world
Oh how our bond fell apart.
How can he love her more than me?
What did I do so wrong?
Perhaps this thing we call love
Was the devil all along?
So hear I am down in the dirt
My robes as filthy rags.
Feel heavier than I've ever been
And existence is just a drag.
The more I had descended
The darker I became
Until one day I looked up
And saw him in heaven
Sitting there with his new flame.
Oh how cruel was my love?
How could he hurt me so?
How can you mend a broken heart?
That's all I'd like to know.
