His love affair

His love affair

He molds bulbs of sticky sap

into

imaginary worlds

by feathers, leaves, shards of glass

and twigs snapped off faggots

The other kids don't like

his gay creations

Teachers pretend quirky is a charm

He masquerades in fantasy too

and retreats into the idio

syncratic

that shrinks

label 'queer'

but it's his quirk,

not theirs
