History of addiction (Spoken Word)

History of addiction (Spoken Word)

All addictions have dark side effects.
I know, I've collected a few.

Back in the day I liked acid too much
not to mention the pot and the booze.

Who knew the way down the rabbit hole
would be obsession with the past.

It's not the momentous moments that get you.
It's the stories of normal people who, into those moments, are cast.

So, the dark side of loving history?

One should avoid having too much empathy
when swimming in the past.

The anger you feel at all the lives wasted
to satisfy greed and ego
of whatever ruling class.

Once you see how the patterns form
optimism can't last.

Then;
When you see the patterns repeating.
When you see evil returning fast.
When you suddenly feel it's 1933
with 4G, fibre optics and extinction by nuclear blast.

You take refuge in the addiction.
Start living in the past.

I might start writing about just the Beaker people.
They're only known for cannabis wine
and a particular type of flask.
