Hunted

I saw her at a powwow and we exchanged glances
I whispered to my friend " I love the way she dances."
She read my eyes and my lips
I knew that she knew and my heart began to race
I made my way to the dark and caught sight of her face
Her hazel eyes locked on me, piercing through my defensive shield
I tried to look away, thinking 'What could she want with me?'
I made my way to a crowded area, feeling cowardly and weak
'I cannot even look in her eyes. I will just escape. Run from her.'
I left the powwow and went straight home
The next morning I found myself in wonder
'Why did I fear her so much?'
it was her eyes, her predatory look
She read me like a children's book
How small I felt, like vulnerable prey
I was being hunted, but I fell in love
I knew I had to go find her...
Overcome my fears, those dangerous yet beautiful eyes
I must find her and look into them
And make her realize
That I am just a man, but I will be her warrior
I will take her hand and hold her close
Hold her forever...
And let her strike her arrow into my heart
