I Hoped it would Be You

I remember so much about her,
so many moments, days, nights,
afternoons in the sun,
mornings watching the trees change,
spending every moment together,
but out of all of that, I have a favorite.
One moment where she meant more to me,
meant more than anything else,
any other time.
I remember her sitting beside me that night,
looking into my eyes and heart, and saying something,
the most beautiful something,
that I had so desperately needed to hear.
"I hoped it would be You"
Words that set me free,
Let me know, that I was right.
that she was the one.
That She was for me,
and I was for her.
She wiped away my fears.
Wiped them all away.
I was a giant when I was with her,
braver, taller, stronger,
happier.
If only such things could last.
