The intensity rises and falls
like the crest of each new wave.
It’s an everchanging front,
and its beauty holds me slave.
As the crests disappear to nothing,
the surface appears calm, but then…
feelings ripple not far beneath
and erupt into waves again.
Refusing to escape their power,
inevitably we meet,
but a part of me is dragged away
each time they make retreat.
At times they affect me differently,
and how is but a guess;
knowing full well they roll away,
I wait for them, nonetheless.
While I can’t predict the pattern,
I consider the path it paves –
like the moments we spend together,
the sea hits the shore…in waves.

Being Me

I  am so glad you told me about this poem. The trip over to your page has been well worth it!  There are a few poems of yours that I want to read more of. It is getting late now so tomorrow I will most certainly have a good long read!  This poem is a great piece of writing. I do like the idea of waves being used to describe emotions x
