I woke up in the morning...

I woke up in the morning...

I woke up in the morning

With my country cold in bed

I woke up in the morning

Her face was cherubic red

----

I woke up in the morning

To find her on her knees

I woke up in the morning

Warding off a grave disease

----

I woke up in the morning

She was feeling insecure

I woke up that same morning

She been told there was no cure

----

I woke up in the morning

I looked at her – she’d lost her face

I woke up in the morning

Prey, sing, to me, Amazing Grace

----

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me

I woke up after dreaming

That she’d floated, drowning, out to sea

----

I woke up in the morning

With my country in despair

I woke up the next morning

And my country wasn’t there.
