Poem -

If he had a voice

What would it sound like?

If he had a voice

If he had a voice, what would it sound like?

Would it be more of a whisper than a voice
Would it present you with only one choice

It would reek of poison and blood
and lure you in with words coated in honey

You wouldn’t survive without me, it would say
That’s why I’ll kill you one day

How much do I have to pay?
Everything,
it would say
so clasp your hands and pray

I’ll hold you close when others make you cry
That’s why you can never leave me so don’t even try
Another tear?
You’re hopeless, my dear

It would sing you lullabies, turning false to true
Once you fall asleep it would suffocate you
Until your face turns a sickly blue
When others look away he would steal a kiss or two
Whispering — I’ll eat you

He devours you, leaving no flesh, bone or hair
Because he loves every part of you

Your body belongs to me
so don’t let anyone in
I’ll dispose of them
starting with their skin
What’s with that ugly grin?
You’re the one painted in sin

Poor, poor girl
Ugly, wretched girl
You are fortunate
to be loved by me
cared for by me
dominated by me
Because nobody loves you
like I do
don’t you think so too?
You poor, poor girl

Would it grow raspy sometimes
and make your ears bleed
Would it laugh in a different language
and plant another seed
Would the melody in his voice die out
and become flat tones
Would it forget the honey coating
and shatter your bones

If he had a voice
that’s what it would sound like

There are true monsters in this world. Manipulating, abusive grim realities that bring suffering to many innocent beings. You definitely captured one of them in this write. Very visual.
