Poem -

If Only

If Only

If only
she didn't willingly follow him back
to the empty dark room
that was shouting with voices just an hour ago.

But she did.

If only
she stopped
when he said to go
down this forbidden road with him.

But she didn't.

If only
she didn't carelessly
allow him in
to her heart, her soul, her body.

But she did.

If only
she protected
what was hers
so wantonly taken away by him.

But she didn't.

And given the choice
she would do it again
and again, and again.

Dear Robyn,

Hurt me once, shame on you
Hurt me twice, shame on me
But love is blind, and I can't say "no"
"If Only" I was strong, and could tell you to go

Love,
Larry xxx
