Isolation!

Forget Coronavirus, it's not to blame,
You self-isolated before it came,
Took refuge in your own company,
Refused to acknowledge there was a me,
Ignoring calls through sheer neglect,
Your ring-tone had the desired effect,
A long trail of voicemails left in vain
Deleted , no doubt, when you heard my name,
It's a shame, insane, our love was high-brow,
Deserved to be framed but take a look at us now,
We're out of the picture, ridiculous but true,
It's the same you and I with a different view,
You're playing the game called 'change of heart',
Arranging, aiming to be apart,
Unsociable, unapproachable, unconcerned,
Deliberately flippant, your bridges burned,
You're an independent island, standing alone,
Suffering in silence as a mute unknown,
Liable to flooding out of your depth
Under waves of emotion, inflowing upset,
Choked by the surf of a tepid salt-sea
Bubbling, diminishing dissolving debris,
Independence is vital, you're entitled to that,
Go for the jugular if that's where it's at,
Much needed space, escape from all ties,
Excuses are futile, no alibis,
Time for reflection, which direction to take,
Familiar or new ground to break,
Test the water, check the mood
Before you conclude your interlude,
Self isolation... priority
One day will cease; set you free!
