Lamp shades

Lamp shades

Lampshades
Made of suede
The tv on its box
An old man in the corner who says "a penny for your thoughts"
I big mirror carved on its sides
The sweeping carvings reminding you of incoming tides
A cross on the wall
A reminder oh so small
of what our lord has done for us
Painkillers for the man in the corner should he begin to make a fuss
The stale smell of dog fur coats the entire room
A picture on the wall shows that the man in the corner once had a bride to match the groom
The carpet stained with years of use and unseen memories
This house is old and shabby but for him, it holds love and glory
It reminds him of his children all old and now on their own
As he looks down at the blanket his dead wife had once sewn
And as he recognizes that his time has finally come
He has not but a worry for he is ready unlike some
