Light My Fire

Light My Fire

Linda and I, while in bed last night, recalled a funny tale;
It happened months after our engagement, and this is what it entails!
It was Spring of 1993, we were visiting her dearest friends;
Outside Washington, in Maryland, three days there did we spend!
.
The first night, when we retired, we decided to make some love;
On a table by our bedside, was a lamp that hung above!
We liked light to share our bodies, but this one shone too bright;
So I came up with an idea brilliant, to make it illuminate just right!
.
I took one of my darkest tee shirts, and wrapped it round the shade;
It was like a well-lit candle, perfect passion to be made!
I climbed in bed beside her, we kissed and snuggled close;
But just before we coupled, a small problem then arose!
.
We were smelling something burning, we looked over to the side;
My tee shirt was on fire, “Put it out”, my Linda cried!
I jumped up and quick reacted, dousing all the fetid flame;
We decided we’d had enough excitement, and from our encounter to refrain!
.
.
                          I will light your fire
                   I promised to my dear Love
                          Put it out instead
