Lost!

Lost!

The lights flickered
on the eve of a new year,
outside the world went mad
lighting the world on fire
with alcohol and scattered moonlight.
The outside sounds barely poured into my room
and my mind was oblivious to it all anyways
all I could and wanted to think about was you.
And what sweet thoughts those were,
the form of you mixing in with the shadows of eternity,
your watery brown eyes kneeling to the orange tantrum of the sun.
Your lips moved in a hurry and I followed them, every twitch of you skin was etched into the thick layers of my memory.
Those moments seemed neverending, they played with time and forgot the twists of reality, what a wonder it was to be simply in your presence.
Now here I sit on the verge of a new year, no longer looking at the stars, no longer staring into the abyss, my soul danced as the sunbeams of my youth dripped from your voice, the world was as it once was and you were farther from me than I'd like but closer to me than ever.
