Poem -

Love or Mirage?

Love or Mirage?

A foggy blur of insecurity hinders my sight,
I hear voices...strange voices
Urging me to turn left at the sign that says right only,
I,
Your frail lamb bleating at every snap of a twig,
Weak knees fail me as I buckle onto the rough earth,
But then,
I sense a warm softness that slowly seeps into my skin like molasses,
You, my love from another star, are the radiant light glistening through my dark abyss,
You, my starlight, light a path for me with your gorgeous brown doe eyes,
That I may escape this wretched forest of agony grasping at my feet with its thorny branches,
You are the fresh scent of morning dew that collects on my window,
Ever so soft and tender,
My star that puts shame to the sun’s radiance ten times over,
Your smile that makes my heart run five laps and back,
My reason to smile, thank you for cleansing this world of its filth with yours,
Is this love?...or mirage?
Mouths have spit out lies upon lies concealed with fake smiles and sweet words,
I worry that this is all an extremely surreal dream that I will awake from at any moment…
