A Lover's Nest

Lost in war and in love centuries ago they were sworn to each other
Their hearts became one, in a lover's nest of torn feathers of Egyptian passion
A love affair no other could dare, drifting back and forth from shore to shore
A golden locket lay across her neck with the promise of love faithful
A longing, a yearning for desire with fate wasting away
Cleopatra hiding not death yet, but Antony in agony and sorrow
Brought together once again in a life thereafter
Twigs and threads of memories past and present
Down and feathers, the cottonwood, and thistles
Branches so tiny, clay from the earth, webs from the spider so fine
A lover's nest to huddle, cuddle, cue, fondle neck to breast
With the heart beating so very fast, the eyes close shut for the moment
The moment of time flies by, then the love shared brings life
To cover and give warmth to protect and to nurture to a new beginning
To sing a song with passion and grace to fill the nest with melody
For the time of an eternal life of love and passion with wings it lives
The gift of a first flight in time and place
A nest of thanks to be so blessed with this kiss of lust
At last the bite of life never more it be
A lover's nest at rest in the tombs of memories once known
Forever in lover's nest of the love triangle of the pyramids
