Lyrical Jazz
Academic double barreled lyrical jazz

Academic double barreled lyrical jazz,
a dusty thesaurus, of worn out phrases,
The plot unimportant, the meaning elusive ,
lyrical fodder, on the walnut shelf,
Bard & laureate quilled, by order of privilege,
pretentious in arrogance that prose supersede,
the minion who resides in the lines that are scribed,
in rhythmical biro's beautiful flow,
The elite dictate elocution states, the second line contain idioms to repel,
word becomes utterance, meanings elucidation,
a lack of understanding, sings absent education,
Residing in the club of cigar smoke & port,
A secret society, where few hold court,
Their verse cries hurrah, in doff of cap,
though the silent majority think its nothing but…

There are many poems written by so called renowned poets that I just do not understand. And I find myself asking, does anyone? Really? After thinking about this really hard I have come to the conclusion that the only thing that matters about poetry is that you like it. And you get it. Names don't matter at all. I guess there are snobs in the world of poetry which is why I like it here on Cosmo...great poems I can understand.
Well written, Graham x
Poetry needn't & shouldn't be intimidating. I don't suppose I'll be popular in academic circles but I won't lose sleep over it ?
Thanks ❤
