Map of Grief

I go into and out of grief
Sometimes with no one watching
Sometimes where tears are forbidden
Sometimes the ground is frozen
In patterns and through my tears
I gift myself and look at crystals of sidewalk shadows
And for a moment detach asĀ
Marie Antoinette played the shepherdess
And let them eat cake
In The mysterious place of her ignorance
Or there is a woman whose skin is like silk
She is beautiful We meet between worlds
I give her my shoes
Knowing she will never wear them
The cold talks and winter
With no one watching I sometimes
Cry in short bursts
Baroque white surrounds me
I have no reason for misery that I know
In curious guiltĀ
On newsreels I have seen the women wailing with
Dead children in their arms
Who
Have a more tangent loss
I want to know the map,Ā
the path that passes through grief to understanding
And how they move on knowing
How do you get past, death or fearĀ
Is the answer falling in some fools blind ear
What way is there to walk the territory of grief ?
Where is theĀ faith that keeps you walking
Where is the relief
That keeps you human
Ā
