The Mocking Bird Speaks

Feathers ruffle, as the forest trees pine comes to life

While the mocking bird calls, he speaks of freedom

I lift my ear to his song, my heart beats to his words

Calling our Cherokee women and children, in the morning light

The sun shines on the crimson cactus rose, and they smile

Across the sand mountains of Alabama, their faces live in the sky

I feel their love, and honor, as I smell the horses tracks from the fallen dew

Where a light rain shower brings damp clay earth to the distant trails

Let the wind guide a man's journey along the trail of tears

The hills will come to greet him, as the mocking bird speaks

As our ancestor's memories broaden our distant horizon

While the wings of the bird carry the spirit there and beyond
