Motherly Love

Oh, you poor little thing
Baby bird with a broken wingÂ
Let me care for you and sew you upÂ
Tenderly with needle and stringÂ
Now you have become mineÂ
Baby bird, once you’re fine
Promise not to fly away
Oh look at you, all skin and bonesÂ
I simply cannot bear your pained moans
Let me repair you with motherly love
Ridding all sticks and stonesÂ
Now there’s no one to hurt you but me
Baby bird, I mustn’t set you free
You belong by Mother’s side
Oh little bird, how pitiable you are
Coughing up the love pills in your food
Let me pour you more from my jarÂ
The purest motherly love imbued
Now you will never die aloneÂ
Stay with Mother, safe and sewn
Resting together under our tombstoneÂ
