Much More than Monsters

Much More than Monsters

From deep within their dens of sin, they lurk in wait and watch.
No swirling mists, or demonโ€™s hiss, they seek another notch
upon their beltโ€“so sly and svelteโ€“they creep around with ease.
Insatiable, deep-seeded needs they can't seem to appease.

ย
They wear a smile, though all the while, their hearts are full of hate.
Perhaps a treat, a sticky sweetโ€”oh, wouldnโ€™t that taste great?
Theyโ€™ll lure you in then soon begin to show you their true face.
Youโ€™ll try to run; once theyโ€™ve begun, youโ€™re trapped in their embrace.

ย
Deceptive guise donned to surprise their unsuspecting prize.
That โ€œthingโ€ they do repulses youโ€”you slowly close your eyes.
You'll scream inside, you'll try to hideโ€”but all to no avail.
Foul, fetid breathโ€“ you'll pray for deathโ€“you feel that youโ€™re in hell.

ย
Upon the earth, for what itโ€™s worth, real monsters do exist.
No fangs or claws, their cruel faux pas still cannot be dismissed.
Not werewolf beasts or zombie feasts, their acts are much more vile.
The foulest fiend you've ever seen, the monsterโ€”pedophile.

You definitely found the right words to describe how a pedophile is Dean. Well put and so accurate in your description of the worst type of monster:)

Hi Dean, great dark piece. Monsters do lurk in the shadows unfortunately they look just like the rest of us. Their evil lies within....making them even more monstrous than those that we keep in our imaginations
enjoyed...thanks for sharing

I couldn't agree with you more, Lorna.
Human monsters like Adolf Hitler, Idi Amin, and others like them, scare me far worse than any zombie or werewolf ever could.
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts with me on this.
