My scars

My scars

Sometimes I look in the mirror and see,
A complete stranger staring back at me.
I love her eyes and I love her hair,
But she’s got scars everywhere.

There’s one on her cheek,
Almost impossible to see.
It’s from the time he first took a strike,
Making her think that it was alright.
She was deserving of the stinging on her flesh,
Because when it came to obeying she failed the test.

There’s also another on her thigh,
So deep it could have ended her life.
It’s from the the time he used his boot with great force,
He turned it into being her fault of course.
Because she wanted to dance to the beat of her own drum,
And not falsifiably fall into his trap called love.

One scar carved into her chest right above her heart,
It’s from him tearing her confidence and self love apart.
The heaviness that he’d woven into her brain,
Had made many emotions and feelings estranged.

The last scar is tearing at at her soul,
It’s craving for her body to just let go.
However, somehow through it all she sees,
That these scars actually have beauty.

She could be evil and sinister too,
But she decided she didn’t want to be like you.
Instead she provides others with love that’s ungiven,
And will always stay positive and driven.

Every once in a while she looks at those scars,
And smiles because she’s come so far.
These scars are not what makes her whole,
They are just a part of getting old.

Life works in different puzzling forms,
It’s like a rainbow after a storm.
So beautiful with its rarity,
And with darkness, comes some clarity.

Sometimes I look in the mirror and see,
A beautiful young woman staring back at me.
I love her strength and her smile,
You gave her a yard, but she walked a mile.

I love this last verse, it's so very clever and simple. Thanks for sharing this with me it's such a impactful and deep read.  I hope things have gotten better from this point in your life! All the Best and Kind regards. The Fish of the Sea.

Thank you for reading!  And yes things have gotten much better.  The last verse really rings true to my heart and I never stop focusing on my self advancement and try to radiate positivity.  I am now free from that negative influence.
