Aren't I done paying my dues?
So why was I left here singing the blues?
Over and over a crippling sadness
Everyone's sick of cheering for classics
I'd rather be wasting my life chasing dragons
The empty promises of something real
The words of that old lady who said wounds could heal
Echo and bring me some inner peace
While its been too long since anything
Has brought me to tears
Could this mean
I have lost my innocence?
It's nothing that serious
I just got used to the thrill

There is deep complexity in this simplicity.

I love the way you think...and see.

The empty promises of something real

...this line is a masterstroke!

Bravo!
