ON A SUNDAY

ON A SUNDAY

Was it on a Sunday

When I last heard you cry

The day I held you tightly

And tried not to pry

My lost little bird on a wire

All alone in this world

My beautiful little rosebud

Who remained tightly furled

Was it on a Sunday

When we took our last walk

I tried to comfort you

But you ran and we didn't talk

My lost little bird on a wire

All alone in this world

My beautiful little rosebud

Who remained tightly furled

Was it on a Sunday

When I last said; Goodbye

Laid a rose upon your grave

And began to sadly cry

Goodbye my lost little bird on a wire

Who flew to heaven that day

Goodbye my beautiful little rosebud

Who blossomed in a garden, far away
