Poem -

ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER

The scent of eucalyptus trees caressed the air,
then we all had the time to stand and stare,
someone said that: 'I shall never leave this place,'
but they did, I see the disappointment on your face.

One moment in time became quietly immortal,
as though bracketed, to be enjoyed by all;
when you're twenty five, September lasts forever,
and lucky to be in the land of never-never.

I was, people flew thro' windows like Peter Pan,
It took you back to the time when it all began;
what day was Adam created or did calender come later,
we could have stayed at college forever, our alma mater.

Maybe that's it - all being wild in suspended animation,
we could have one absolute ball before graduation.
