One Night

drifting to the beat of the night
we walked hand in hand to see the moon
and the ocean from the top of the hill
and thin white clouds moved in the tropical breeze
stars poured out their light
the scent of roasting peanuts, everywhere
old concrete houses stretched to the broken pavement
laughter and screaming and electronic disco music
came from an open window, nearby
you stopped and pointed, hand to mouth
spotting wild dogs fornicating in the bushes
stuck together in the act
running sideways in front of us
wincing in grotesque distress;
till the old man appeared, holding a bucket
throwing water on them
they scampered away, going their separate ways,
and noticing your amusement
the man flashed a toothless grin, mumbling in Spanish
as you laughed till tears rolled down your cheeks
Donna Summer's voice rose from the music in hard whispers
' Love to Love you Baby...'

hey Richard, thanks bro. glad you liked it my friend, I've been crazy busy the last little while, and I've been feeling guilty for not posting anything for so long, this one appeared in my mind, after I listened to that disco song by Donna Summer, I pulled a few memories and pasted it together...man I've forgotten how much fun it can be writing one of these odd things....have a great night, cheers
Have a good day !!! :)
Best wishes !
HRL, lol you said it pal...``very strange`` I can`t seem to write in a straight line, glad you enjoyed...hugs to you my friend, I think we have the same sense of humour, lol...night pal
Wow Christopher, an amazing write man
The details and imagery you portrayed in this strange but unique and shyed away from what you presented in the beginning as just normal walk at night to see the moon you really transformed it into a humorous scene instead of romantic but in the end it was. You really threw me off lol. Well done brother.
Devon, thanks man, lol...my memories of the Caribbean are both humorous and disturbing, it's good I retained some odd memories, it's a joy to be on a poetry site with gifted artists who read your work and give you feedback as well; beyond a price, if you are serious about the art-form, appreciate your words very much, pal....nite
Barry, thank you me mate, just seen the comment....lol I seen two dogs stuck together when I was very young, shit like that stays in the mind, I guess...cheers pal
Hi Chris, lovely imagery, and a wonderful twist with some humor, but still all very real! A definite like from me!
