One true thing

One true thing

The morning’s sunshine sent a sparkle
Rarely seen again
The midday’s radiance of light
Declares it's near its end

From avenues transcended
To highways overcome
A bellow breaches what’s accepted
A sense of joy has gone

It becomes a step too far away
The road less travelled on
Flawed attitude – out of control
Now go – depart – abscond

What becomes when all is lost
And platitudes derive
The one true thing – now far outshone
That spends its time contrived

Of what – of whom – please tell me sir
Does anything make sense
I sit at bar and order up
And prey in my defence

For what I wish would be revealed
Of whom I’m sure to think
My one true thing – sought after more
As waiter serves my drink

Under weather deeper than the soul
Portending to release
My one true thing on God’s fair earth
A sense of true belief
