feeding the starving homeless in the streets,
then off to Golden Corral for all you can eat.

Its a messed up world,
when Stars and Stripes free countries under oppression,
National Debt so high, heading for another depression,
millions close to minimum wage,
another mass murder, turn the page.

Its a messed up world,
when a man of faith closes his door,
as gods wrath sends a mighty downpour,
preacher man got the spiritual answers,
devotees dismiss his questionable standards.

Its a messed up world,
when cameras are on every street,
safety and privacy is bittersweet,
crime is still committed,
and perpetrators still get acquitted.

Its a messed up world,
when open love has to hide,
conservatives demand a groom and bride,
can't help who you fall in love with,
but many won't accept the book as myth.

Its a messed up world,
when world leaders dispute on social media,
checking his facts in Wikipedia,
hurricanes and earthquakes in the fall,
still finding time to drive a golf ball.

Its a messed up world,
when critical thinking is neglected,
smart phones make you feel connected,
the pleasure principle is taking a selfie,
intelligence is secured with a college degree.

Its a messed up world,
when the news is all tragedy and fear,
telling of local dangers, we must be aware,
advertising tells you of the latest medication,
helping you thru the day, so you can function.

Its a messed up world,
when crime doesn't have a face,
its orchestrated from some other place,
techno crime is on the rise,
before you realize, they got the prize.

Its a messed up world,
when protesting injustice is unpatriotic,
being regarded as a lunatic,
a simple expression of a bended knee,
falls foul in the land of the free. 

Its a messed up world,
when singers and poets reflect the truth,
as celebrities and politicians are uncouth,
words and songs from souls of the wise,
who endeavor to educate and idealize.
