Poem -

Rainbow

It left me in the dark

And wouldn’t return until

the evening shadows glaze the pavements

mighty canvas.

The birds were chirping

As I watched wide-eyed

At the swirling clouds

Of silver lace

Some nights when it leaves

My body stays

And I go out to explore.

I wouldn’t let it get too close

Enough to warm

Enough to see my bare feet.

Enough to love no company

It left again

Making me feel

Monochrome shades

Colors not seen by the rainbow

I stayed, comfortable.

When it returned

Deep in the basement

Was more of these scenic views

I no longer welcome it clicking

Its talk of the tongue

its lasting hypnotic magic charm.
