Poem -

Rekindled & Remarried

Traces of our steps on the yellow vinyl,
From the nights that we would dance in the kitchen

Words were said, and after mountains of broken spode dishes,
We called it quits,

You got the little red house, and I got the kids,
For years, we cooperated

There were times when we acted like strangers
Until our energy clicked

It was after our youngest had gone off to college
We reflected on the things that we never said or did

And it became like a fire within our souls
Burning bright just to keep each other warm

The disconnect turned into a ghost that crossed over
As we met again for the first time since we said goodbye,

Love filled our minds with forgotten memories
As our hands joined together again

We renewed our vows and traveled the world
The second time around is a lot better than the first

Because the end of a story is required
To give birth to a new one that is flourishing

Just because you part ways
Doesn't mean that's the end of the journey.
