Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers

A wicked storm, the whirling tornado, the rumble of the sky

Things flying in the air, a woman on a bicycle, an old country farm

Auntie Em worried and calling my name, I hold my little dog tight

The pigs in the pig pen wanting to fight, my uncles rushing

To hide in the cellar, until the storm is over, I feel the clouds, out my window

Passing quickly by, now suddenly we land, in a strange sort of place

Yellow brick roads, tiny little munchkin's, flowers come to life, and sing

I feel homesick, I am no longer in Kansas, though I want to go back home

I meet a good witch, and she tries to worn me, trying to protect me

She gives me these sparkling, ruby red slippers, they will keep me safe

I feel a screaming, and find out, my house landed on the wicked witches sister

Now, she is out to get me, I must follow the brick road, it will lead me to the wizard

The Wizard of Oz will send me on my way, I meet a scarecrow that has no brain

I then run into a cowardly lion, no courage he has, then at last, a tin man, without a heart

They become my friends, along my path, my little dog Toto, and now we are off

Running into flying monkeys, the wicked witch captures me, then I am freed by my new friends

Finally the wizard, he is really a medicine man, but he gives us gifts, a script of knowledge

A scroll of courage, and a tick tock heart, and when the good witch appears

I click my ruby slippers three times, and suddenly I awaken in my own bed

At home at last in Kansas, with my auntie, and my three uncles, who were in my dream

I was running a fever, and finally it broke, when I woke up, I was so happy

To know my true friends, were always my family, in my own home town
