School Run

Standing in a playground
Freezing in the cold
Is the part of parenthood
You are never told

Focused on the classroom door
Willing it to open
So the torture your enduring
Can soon be broken

But the teacher is as sadistic
As you remember as a child
When you just wanted to leave the class
And run around wild

Now you are an adult
The teacher still has that power
To make the minutes that you wait
Feel like an eternal hour
